So, a popular thing going around the internet right now is this set of photos of Jake Gyllenhaal looking totally wasted at a party the night before the Oscars, throwing "the horns", sticking his tongue out, faux-smooching Ang Lee and generally doing all sorts of "Hey, look at me, I'm drunk off my ass!" type photo-behavior. I can't be bothered to link directly to them here because it's late and I'm lazy, but do a bit of Google-Fu and they're not exactly hard to find right now.
Fair play to him, I say. It's stuff like this that elevates people in my estimation. I mean, look. If you think those pictures are bad, just you wait. If I ever get nominated for an Oscar, and I'm at some party with free booze the night before, all I can say is I hope there is someone there with a camera following me about, because trust me those pictures are going to be AWESOME.

TGIF
This week I have worked, as Homer Simpson would say, like a Japanese beaver. Among other things, I did the following:
* Finished the script for the first issue of the new series of "Death, Jr." comic books. That will now go to Ted Naifeh so he can start working his magic pencilling, inking and coloring the sequential art. Meanwhile, the cover art is currently being produced by the very talented Dan Brereton. I've seen the first sketches and it looks absolutely great.
* Finished up the latest draft of REAPER, on which I hopefully will have some very exciting news to report soon.
* Wrote up treatments for three (count 'em!) different movies, all very different and interesting projects. One is a re-invention of a world-famous movie hero franchise to which I am attached to write, one is an original horror/thriller to be pitched to producers next week, and the third is for a big-budget movie remake of a popular TV show that I loved as a kid and would kill to write as a grown-up. We'll find out soon if the producers like my take on it.
* Started working on an idea for an off-the-wall comedy which I'm pretty excited about. I pitched the idea to my managers, and they immediately asked me if I was high. I must be on the right track...

Movie stuff
It's been all "Death Jr" this and "Death Jr" that in Gazblogland lately, so let's shake things up a bit with some movie news.
Today I am excited. Excited because the first two feature film projects that bear my screenwritery fingerprints are now actually in production. The first one recently finished its initial five-week shoot in Japan, and the other begins principal photography in Vancouver next week. So yeah, excited. I don't know if I'm allowed to say anything about what these projects are yet, but I'll check into that and hopefully dish some details here very shortly.
I'm hoping also to have some really interesting news on REAPER sometime soon. Good things happening. Watch this space.
